The Anaheim Ducks and winger Troy Terry have reached an agreement to avoid arbitration. The team has signed Terry to a seven-year contract that will keep him with the Ducks until the 2029-30 season.
Terry’s new contract is valued at $49 million in total, with an Annual Average Value (AAV) of $7 million per year. This deal solidifies Terry’s role as a key player for the Ducks as they continue their rebuilding process.
Terry, who is 25 years old, has been a standout performer for the struggling Ducks in recent seasons. He had a breakout season in 2021-22, recording 37 goals and 30 assists in 75 games. He also became only the fifth player in franchise history to score at least 35 goals in a single season.
In the last season, despite Anaheim’s inability to make significant progress, Terry maintained his strong performance. He tied for the team lead in goals with 23, and ranked second in assists (38) and points (61). Terry’s on-ice impact at five-on-five was particularly noteworthy, with a plus/minus goal differential of -1, the best among players with at least 20 games played, according to Natural Stat Trick.
With Terry’s contract settled, the Ducks will now shift their focus to signing center Trevor Zegras, a restricted free agent. Zegras led the team in points last season and has the potential to form a formidable duo with Terry for years to come.
