In the French Open semifinal match on Friday, Novak Djokovic defeated Carlos Alcaraz to advance to the final. Alcaraz suffered cramps during the match, which affected his performance and allowed Djokovic to win with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.
This win puts Djokovic in a position to win his second French Open in three years and his third overall. It also gives him the opportunity to tie Serena Williams’ record of 23 major titles. Djokovic will face the winner of Casper Rudd and Alexander Zverev in the final on Sunday.
This final appearance marks Djokovic’s 34th Grand Slam final, tying him with Chris Evert for the most in the Open Era by a man or woman.
During the match, Alcaraz suffered an apparent leg injury in the first set and received medical treatment for cramps. After the injury break, his mobility was clearly limited and Djokovic took advantage, winning the third and fourth sets with ease.
Despite Alcaraz’s strong performance early in the match, Djokovic was able to match his quickness on the clay court. The second set was particularly competitive, with both players showcasing their elite tennis skills.
However, once Alcaraz began to struggle physically, Djokovic took control of the match and won 11 consecutive games.
