Thiago Messi, the oldest son of Lionel Messi, has joined Inter Miami’s U-12 team for the upcoming academy season. The announcement was made by the club on Friday. Thiago, who is 10 years old, is one of 150 players competing in Miami’s youth teams and one of 35 newcomers to the academy program.

The U-12 team will participate in the Florida League Academy, while the older teams will compete in MLS Next leagues. The U-19 team will be part of the United Premier Soccer League.

Thiago Messi was not part of any club before joining Miami’s academy. However, he has already been spotted playing after the senior team’s Leagues Cup victory over Atlanta United last month.

Thiago is not the first child of a famous soccer player to join Inter Miami. David Beckham’s son Romeo previously played for the team before moving to Brentford B in January. Harvey, the son of former head coach Phil Neville, is currently under contract with the team but is on loan at USL Championship side Loudoun United.
