Report: Trey Murphy III of the Pelicans Suffers Meniscus Tear During Workout

In a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, it has been revealed that Trey Murphy III of the New Orleans Pelicans suffered a meniscus tear during a recent workout. The extent of the injury and whether surgery is required is still unknown.

Murphy had an impressive sophomore season with the Pelicans, appearing in 79 games and setting career highs in points, rebounds, and assists per game. He showcased his scoring efficiency by shooting over 48% from the field and over 40% from beyond the arc.

The Pelicans have had their fair share of injury troubles in recent seasons, with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson missing significant time. Adding CJ McCollum in a trade last year provided some stability, but the team still lacks consistent shooting from the wing.

Without a reliable sharpshooter, the Pelicans may struggle with spacing and offensive efficiency. However, they do have versatile wings in Herbert Jones, Naji Marshall, and Dyson Daniels, who will need to step up their shooting performance to fill the void.
