According to the Associated Press, the domestic violence charges against Andrew Barroway, a minority owner of the Arizona Coyotes, have been dropped. Barroway was arrested in Aspen, Colorado following an altercation with his wife in March. The original charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor second-degree assault have been dropped. Barroway released a statement asserting that the incident was a “private personal matter” that was inaccurately portrayed in the media. He expressed relief that the matter has concluded and confirmed that the allegations against him were false. Despite the dropped charges, Barroway remains indefinitely suspended by the NHL from any involvement with the Coyotes. The NHL has yet to provide an update on Barroway’s status.

In 2014, Barroway acquired a majority stake in the Coyotes for $152.5 million, eventually becoming the sole owner in 2017. However, he sold 95% of the team to current owner Alex Meruelo in 2019.
