The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Tomas Tatar to a one-year contract. The deal is worth $1.5 million.
Tatar, who played for the New Jersey Devils last season, is a solid middle-six winger known for his ability to contribute offensively and defensively. He scored 20 goals and recorded 28 assists in 82 games.
Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland expressed his excitement about adding a veteran like Tatar to the team for the upcoming season.
“Tomas has consistently been a productive player throughout his NHL career,” said MacFarland. “He brings scoring depth to our middle six and contributes at both ends of the ice. We’re thrilled to have him on the team.”
Tatar had a successful partnership with Nico Hischier last year, with the duo producing strong results in five-on-five situations. The Devils had the majority of expected goals when Tatar was on the ice, and he even received votes for the Selke Trophy.
Tatar is known for his strong two-way game and has accumulated 211 goals, 244 assists, and 455 points over his 12 seasons in the NHL.
