WWE has announced that the 37th Royal Rumble event will be held at Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay on January 27. This will be the first time since 1995 that Tampa Bay will host this annual event. The area previously hosted WrestleMania in 2021.
The upcoming Royal Rumble event will include a 30-man and a 30-woman Royal Rumble match. The winners of each match will earn championship matches at WrestleMania 40, scheduled for April 6 and April 7 in Philadelphia.
The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s biggest events, often considered part of the “big four” events along with SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and WrestleMania. It has been a major part of the build-up to WrestleMania for many years.
In the previous year’s Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley emerged as the winners. Rhodes went on to challenge Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39 Night 2, but was unsuccessful. Ripley, on the other hand, defeated Charlotte Flair to become the SmackDown women’s champion and then went on to become the inaugural Women’s world champion.
