The Indiana Pacers are reportedly exploring trade options for veteran wing Buddy Hield. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the team is looking to find potential trade partners due to a stall in contract negotiations. Hield, who has been with the Pacers since the latter half of the 2021-22 season, is expected to generate significant interest in his contract year. Last season, he played in 80 games for the Pacers and averaged 16.8 points per game, shooting an impressive 42.5% from beyond the arc. Hield is renowned for his 3-point shooting, having made the second-most 3-pointers in the league last season. Only Klay Thompson made more in the 2022-23 season, and Hield has the most 3-pointers made since the 2017-18 season.

According to reports, the Indiana Pacers offered Hield a contract to keep him on the team after his current deal expires in the 2023-24 season. However, the offer was not appealing enough to convince him to stay. Last season, Hield and Miles Turner were both considered trade targets, but Turner agreed to a contract extension with the Pacers in January.
The Los Angeles Lakers showed interest in acquiring Hield before last season, but other contending teams are likely to explore what it would take to acquire his unique skills.
