In the NBA preseason, teams often see turnovers, missed shots, and players who may not be well-known. The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers faced each other in a preseason game at Wells Fargo Center. This nationally televised, primetime game featured some notable players from both teams, including Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown of the Celtics, and Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, who made their debuts for the Celtics.
However, it was Jaylen Brown who caught everyone’s attention early on with a wardrobe malfunction. Just a few minutes into the game, Brown was informed that his white and green Celtics shorts were on backwards. Celtics commentator Brian Scalabrine jokingly commented on this unusual sight, wondering if it was a new trend.
While it may not be the most serious shorts-related mishap in NBA history, it’s worth noting that former Los Angeles Laker Michael Beasley once attempted to check into a game wearing practice shorts that didn’t match his team’s uniforms.
After being notified of his mistake, Brown quickly corrected his shorts and continued to play at his usual level.
During the offseason, the Celtics rewarded Brown with a five-year, $304 million extension, making him the NBA’s first player to earn $60 million per year. This contract was based on Brown’s impressive basketball skills, rather than his ability to properly dress himself.
