According to a report by Tim Graham of The Athletic, Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres COO John Roth has been fired. The Senior Vice President and general counsel for the Bills, Kathryn D’Angelo, has also been fired. The reason for their termination was an “unethical circumstance” arising from a “romantic relationship” between Roth and D’Angelo, which created potential problems due to their professional hierarchy.

The franchises have appointed Josh Dziurlikowski as the interim COO and Jim Overdorf as the interim general counsel while an “external search” is conducted to fill the permanent roles. Roth had recently been named COO of Pegula Sports & Entertainment, which has now been dissolved. Despite the dissolution, Roth continued to serve as the COO for both the Sabres and Bills.

D’Angelo, who had been with the Bills for seven years, was appointed as the general counsel earlier this year. She also served as a member of the team’s management committee while holding the position of Senior Vice President.
