The Philadelphia Phillies secured their spot in the NLCS by defeating the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park. With a 3-1 series lead, the Phillies eliminated the Braves, who had been the best team in MLB during the regular season.
Only four teams remain in the 2023 MLB playoff bracket. The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Houston Astros advanced to the LCS round by eliminating the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins, respectively. The all-Texas ALCS will begin on Sunday night, with the Astros hosting the Rangers at Minute Maid Park.
The Diamondbacks, who swept the NL West champion Dodgers in three games, will travel to Philadelphia for Game 1 on Tuesday. This is the first time since 2007 that the Diamondbacks have reached the NLCS, while the Dodgers have been eliminated in the NLDS for the second consecutive year.
Out of the original 12 teams in the playoff field, only four remain. The Dodgers, Twins, Orioles, and Braves were eliminated in this round, while the Marlins, Brewers, Blue Jays, and Rays were eliminated in the wild-card round.
The 2023 MLB playoffs will run until at least October 31, and a potential Game 7 of the World Series would be played on Saturday, November 4.
