The Houston Astros lost to the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. The Rangers now have a 1-0 lead in the series. The winner of this series will go on to play in the World Series against either the Philadelphia Phillies or the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Astros have reached the ALCS seven times in a row, while the Rangers are making their first appearance since 2011.

Although the Astros had the advantage in the regular season matchups, it didn’t stop the Rangers from winning Game 1 with a strong performance from Jordan Montgomery and contributions from Evan Carter and Leody Taveras. What will happen in Game 2?

Preview

This is a crucial game for both teams. In best-of-seven series, teams that take a 2-0 lead historically win the series 84.3% of the time. So, if the Astros lose again in Game 2, they will be in a tough spot. The series will also move to Arlington after this game, giving the Rangers a chance to win the pennant at home against their in-state rivals.

Prediction

We want to see this series go the distance, so we predict the Astros will win a close game with a late home run from Yordan Alvarez. Pick: Astros 4, Rangers 3.
