The Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers are both two wins away from the 2023 World Series. Both teams have taken 2-0 series leads in the LCS round. The Phillies had a dominant 10-0 victory in NLCS Game 2 against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night. The game was close for the first five innings, but the Phillies broke it open with back-to-back four-run innings.
The Rangers are up 2-0 in the best-of-seven ALCS against the defending World Series champions, the Houston Astros. Texas won two games in Houston on Sunday night and Monday afternoon. The Rangers will send Max Scherzer to the mound on Wednesday night for their second playoff game at Globe Life Field.
In the LDS round, three of the four top seeds were eliminated. The Phillies defeated the 104-win Braves, the Rangers swept the 101-win Orioles, and the Diamondbacks eliminated the 100-win Dodgers. The playoffs started with 12 teams, and now only four remain. The Marlins, Brewers, Blue Jays, and Rays were all eliminated in the Wild Card Series.
