Matthew and Brady Tkachuk are currently playing extremely well in the NHL. However, they are not the first in their family to succeed in hockey. Their father, Keith Tkachuk, had a successful career in the NHL and is considered one of the greatest American players in hockey history. Keith is now being honored with induction into the St. Louis Blues Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a player. In a touching video shared by the Blues, Matthew and Brady surprise their father with the news. Keith becomes emotional as he is embraced by his sons and wife.
Upon learning of his induction, Keith said, “Now I’m gonna cry.”
During his nine seasons with the Blues, Keith Tkachuk achieved impressive stats, ranking sixth in all-time goals (208), fourth in power play goals (96), and tied for seventh in game-winning goals (29). In the 2001 postseason, Tkachuk led the Blues to the Western Conference Finals before being eliminated by the Colorado Avalanche. Keith retired as a member of the Blues in 2010.
In addition to Keith Tkachuk, the Blues also announced that his former teammate and friend, Pavol Demitra, as well as St. Louis legend Mike Liut, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside him. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 19, with the players being honored prior to the Blues’ game against the Washington Capitals on January 20.
