2023 World Series staff picks
R.J. Anderson: I’ll go with the Diamondbacks. Although the Rangers may be the better team, success in the postseason is never guaranteed. I think the Diamondbacks have the potential to secure their second world title and make an impact. Let’s mix things up and embrace the chaos. It would also be great for baseball if Corbin Carroll shines in the World Series and establishes himself as another thrilling young star. PICK: Diamondbacks in 7; World Series MVP: Corbin Carroll
Mike Axisa: It’s refreshing to have two new teams in the World Series. The Diamondbacks have shown their strength and athleticism, and they are better than their regular season record suggests. Although the Rangers may have concerns with their bullpen, I believe they are the stronger team overall, especially offensively. I expect the World Series to be exciting and go the distance. PICK: Rangers in 7; World Series MVP: Nathan Eovaldi
Dayn Perry: Based on the record run differential and the state of their lineup, I think the Rangers have the edge. However, the Diamondbacks should not be underestimated as they are a competitive team. Ultimately, I believe the powerful Rangers offense will prevail over the struggling Arizona pitching. PICK: Rangers in 7; World Series MVP: Corey Seager
Matt Snyder: The Diamondbacks have proven their capabilities, so the Rangers need to avoid letting them hang around. Early leads will be crucial. With a strong offense and solid rotation, the Rangers are the better team. PICK: Rangers in 7; World Series MVP: Adolis García
Stephen Pianovich: The Diamondbacks have earned their place in the World Series and have proven to be tough opponents. While the Rangers seem like the more logical choice, the D-backs have consistently defeated talented teams. PICK: Diamondbacks in 6; World Series MVP: Gabriel Moreno
Kate Feldman: I’ve been underestimating the Diamondbacks throughout the postseason, so I’ll continue to do so. Both teams have their strengths, and the Diamondbacks’ bullpen has exceeded expectations. It will be interesting to see how Max Scherzer performs. I would happily watch multiple games of this matchup. PICK: Rangers in 7; World Series MVP: Adolis García
