The Big 12 has partnered with the WWE to promote the conference’s upcoming championship game on Dec. 2. Notable WWE wrestlers will be involved in various events before and during the game. The partnership will feature a Big 12 x WWE logo on the field, as well as a merchandise line available for purchase.
Furthermore, the game’s Most Outstanding Player will be presented with a custom championship title belt by a WWE wrestler. Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark expressed the significance of the partnership, highlighting the integration of WWE and its brand power into one of the conference’s biggest moments.
Yormark has been using the championship game as a significant branding opportunity, with previous collaborations such as a streetwear brand partnership and the introduction of school-inspired concession items. This year, in addition to the WWE promotions, the league will feature its first-ever televised halftime show with Nelly headlining.
WWE president Nick Khan showed excitement in partnering with the Big 12, expressing the WWE’s commitment to amplifying the Big 12 Championship. The 2023 Big 12 Championship Game will kick off at 12 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Five conference teams remain in contention for a berth in the championship game: Texas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, and Kansas State. Last season, No. 13 Kansas State claimed the championship with a 31-28 victory over No. 3 TCU, and running back Deuce Vaughn was named Most Outstanding Player.
