New York Rangers star Artemi Panarin and Madison Sq. Backyard paid a monetary settlement to a former staff worker who claims Panarin sexually assaulted her, in response to a report from The Athletic. The alleged incident dates again to December 2023, when the Rangers have been at a resort throughout a street journey.
The lady alleged that, throughout a postgame gathering on the resort, Panarin took her telephone and informed her he would solely return it if she visited his room. In line with the lady, when she went to retrieve her telephone, Panarin pinned her down on the mattress. The lady says she pushed the Rangers ahead off of her and left the room.
Three months after the alleged incident, the feminine worker was beneath investigation for a separate incident involving her allegedly sharing anti-anxiety medication with a participant who had a worry of flying. It was then that the lady informed the Rangers in regards to the alleged assault by Panarin.
Final August, Panarin and MSG reached a settlement with the lady, whose employment with the staff was terminated. Per The Athletic, the settlement had non-disclosure and no admission of wrongdoing clauses.
When requested for an announcement from MSG, a spokesperson mentioned, “The matter has been resolved.”
Because the settlement was reached, Panarin went on to steer the Rangers in targets (37), assists (52) and factors (89) within the 2024-25 season. On Wednesday, Panarin was named staff MVP by members of the native media.
