Alabama has secured a commitment from highly-rated tight end Caleb Odom. Odom, who currently plays for Carrollton High School in Georgia, chose to join the Crimson Tide over several other top programs including Florida, Miami, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.

Odom is widely regarded as one of the top tight end talents in the country. He is ranked as the No. 66 player overall in the Top247 rankings and is considered the sixth-best tight end in his class. Prior to Odom’s commitment, he held the top spot at his position in the Top247 rankings, but that title now belongs to Tayvion Galloway from Pickerington Central High School in Ohio.

Odom explained his decision, saying, “I see myself fitting in in Tuscaloosa and the environment there. Then I built a great relationship with Coach [Nick] Saban. They showed me the ways I can be utilized and getting Coach [Tommy] Rees there. He had some great tight ends at Notre Dame and that was very appealing.”

At a height of 6-foot-5 and weighing 215 pounds, Odom is expected to be an impactful and physically imposing tight end at the college level. According to 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins, Odom has the potential to be a mismatch and one of the top offensive weapons in the class of 2024. However, he may need some time to develop before reaching his full potential.

The addition of Odom has boosted Alabama’s recruiting efforts, propelling them into the top five of the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. They now sit ahead of USC and Penn State. Despite having only 14 commitments, the Crimson Tide currently have the highest average recruit rating in the nation, a distinction that sets them apart.

Odom’s impressive performance on the field has earned him recognition as a Junior All-American by MaxPreps. In his junior season, he caught 63 passes for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns, leading his Carrollton team to the 7A State Championship Game against Mill Creek. Unfortunately, Carrollton fell short against Mill Creek, with future Alabama teammate Caleb Downs leading Mill Creek to victory.
