Georgia football coach Kirby Smart announced that defensive back Smoke Bouie is no longer part of the team. Bouie had joined the Bulldogs after playing at Texas A&M as a freshman. Despite his short stay, Smart expressed best wishes for Bouie’s future. Bouie entered the transfer portal in December 2022 and was highly regarded as a four-star prospect and the ninth-ranked cornerback in the transfer portal. Bouie’s transfer stock was boosted by his previous status as a blue-chip high school recruit, where he ranked 46th overall and third in safety position. Bouie appeared in seven games as a reserve cornerback for the Aggies, contributing four tackles and one pass breakup. He was temporarily suspended in September for violating team rules but returned to play after missing one game.
