WWE SummerSlam will be held at Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday, Aug. 5. The event is expected to feature several high-profile matches, with three matches already confirmed and others still being finalized.

The confirmed matches for SummerSlam include Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor for the World Heavyweight Championship, and Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler. Rhodes and Lesnar will settle their ongoing trilogy, Rollins and Balor will continue their feud over the world title, and Rousey will face off against her former friend Baszler.

2023 WWE SummerSlam matches

Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar: Their trilogy has Rhodes and Lesnar tied at one win apiece, with Rhodes winning their first bout at Backlash and Lesnar getting his revenge at Night of Champions. Lesnar returned to Raw after Money in the Bank to continue his feud with Rhodes, and the trilogy was officially set on the July 17 episode of Raw.

World Heavyweight Championship — Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor: Rollins has been getting the better of Balor in their encounters, fueling Balor’s desire for revenge. Balor previously defeated Rollins in 2016 to become the first universal champion but had to vacate the title due to an injury. Balor is determined to get his payback against Rollins, but the champion is determined to hold on to his title.

Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler: Baszler turned on Rousey during Money in the Bank, leading to Rousey’s loss of the women’s tag team championships. Baszler was tired of Rousey’s receiving preferential treatment based on her name value. The former friends will finally face off at SummerSlam.

2023 WWE SummerSlam predictions

Undisputed Tag Team Championships — Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn (c) vs. Judgement Day (Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio): Owens and Zayn successfully defended their titles against Priest and Mysterio on the July 17 episode of Raw. More matches for the tag team division are yet to be announced.

Intercontinental Championship — Gunther (c) vs. Drew McIntyre: McIntyre made a return at Money in the Bank and challenged Intercontinental Champion Gunther to a one-on-one match. Their previous triple threat match at WrestleMania was highly acclaimed, and their singles match promises to be exciting.

Women’s World Championship — Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez: Ripley and Rodriguez had a confrontation on the July 17 episode of Raw, hinting at a future championship match between the two. Ripley attacked Rodriguez backstage, and the injury she suffered led to her losing the tag team titles.

United States Championship — Austin Theory (c) vs. LA Knight (or Santos Escobar): Theory announced a U.S. Championship invitational on SmackDown. Santos Escobar won a fatal four-way match to qualify for the finals, while Knight will compete against Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, and Cameron Grimes for the other spot. Knight has been gaining popularity among fans and is seen as an emerging star.

Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus: Lynch and Stratus, along with Zoey Stark, have been feuding for months. Stratus defeated Lynch at Night of Champions with the help of Stark. Lynch is seeking revenge and challenged Stratus to a rematch at SummerSlam.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship — Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso: After Jey Uso pinned Reigns at Money in the Bank, it is expected that they will face off one-on-one at SummerSlam. Reigns injured Jimmy Uso, forcing Jey to seek vengeance on his own.

WWE Women’s Championship — Asuka (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair: Belair and Flair have been at odds with each other, which has affected Asuka’s title defenses. It is likely that all three women will compete in a triple threat match at SummerSlam, with Money in the Bank winner Iyo Sky waiting for her opportunity.
