Ayo Dosunmu Re-Signs with Chicago Bulls on Three-Year, $21 Million Contract: Report

USATSI

Ayo Dosunmu has agreed on a three-year, $21 million deal to remain with the Chicago Bulls, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. There was speculation about Dosunmu’s future with the team, but the uncertainty surrounding Lonzo Ball may have influenced the Bulls’ decision to retain him.

Dosunmu was selected by the Bulls in the second round (38th overall pick) of the 2021 NBA Draft. He played in 70 games and started in 44 of them during his rookie season. In his sophomore season, he appeared in 80 games and started in 51. Over his first two seasons, Dosunmu has averaged 8.7 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per game. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2022 and participated in the Rising Stars Game at All-Star Weekend in February. At just 23 years old, Dosunmu still has room for improvement.

Despite Ball’s injury, the Bulls have depth in the backcourt with players like Alex Caruso and Jevon Carter. Dosunmu will continue to start some games and come off the bench in others depending on the availability of other players and matchups.

The contract is a reasonable one for Dosunmu’s contributions, and even if things don’t work out in Chicago, it should be easy to trade.
