The Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Wings have announced a significant partnership. The Mavericks will become the jersey sponsor for the Wings, making them the first WNBA team to have a jersey sponsorship with an NBA team.
The jersey patch will feature the Mavericks logo along with the “Girls Empowered by Mavericks” (GEM) logo, which is a program created by the NBA team. The GEM program aims to inspire and empower young females through physical activity.
Wings President & CEO Greg Bibb expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “We are incredibly proud to partner with their organization to extend and expand the GEM program’s reach throughout North Texas.”
The Wings jerseys will start featuring the new logo as early as their next game against the Chicago Sky.
In addition to the jersey sponsorship, the players and coaches of the Wings will also participate in GEM programs, including basketball camps for girls in North Texas.
This landmark partnership between the Wings and the Mavericks could potentially pave the way for similar collaborations in the future.
