Charlotte Flair, the most accomplished women’s superstar in WWE history, aims to reach new heights at WrestleMania 39. With 14 women’s championship titles under her belt, she is just two titles away from tying the men’s world title reign record held by her father Ric Flair and John Cena. Despite her success, Flair remains driven and determined to make a lasting impact.
After a seven-month hiatus, Flair made her return to WWE programming in December. In her first match back, she pinned Ronda Rousey, the only person to defeat her, and became the SmackDown women’s champion once again. This victory marked another milestone in Flair’s illustrious career. She has held the women’s championship title 14 times, including seven times as the SmackDown women’s champion, six times as the Raw women’s champion (as the inaugural titleholder), and once as the final WWE Diva’s champion. Flair is also one of only two superstars to hold the WWE NXT championship on two separate occasions.
Despite her incredible success, Flair understands that complacency can set in and lead to apathy among the fans. Many WWE Hall of Famers have experienced this, including John Cena and Roman Reigns. Flair is determined to avoid this trap and is eager to elevate the SmackDown women’s title. Under the new creative direction of Paul Levesque (Triple H), Flair is exploring ways to make her 14th title reign unique and memorable.
When asked about her mindset going into WrestleMania 39, Flair said, “It’s not about proving myself anymore. I’m just being Charlotte. Whether people like me or not, I’m here for them. It’s been extremely rewarding to connect with the fans and focus on their enjoyment.”
Flair’s opponent at WrestleMania 39 will be Rhea Ripley, the winner of the 2023 Royal Rumble. Flair is excited for this matchup and is approaching it with confidence and without the self-doubt that plagued her in the past.
