The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Trevor Zegras to a three-year contract extension, according to the team. The deal is worth an average annual value of $5.75 million, as reported by ESPN’s Emily Kaplan.
Zegras, who was a restricted free agent, expressed his satisfaction with the new deal. Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek stated that Zegras is an important player for the team and they are excited to see what he will accomplish in the future.
Last season, Zegras led the Ducks in scoring with 65 points, including 23 goals and 42 assists. This will be his fourth season in the NHL. He was also a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie in the 2021-22 season.
The Ducks selected Zegras as the No. 9 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. He is the second player in team history to record 60 points in multiple seasons before the age of 23. Over the past two seasons, Zegras has accumulated 126 points for the Ducks.
The team’s focus will now shift towards re-signing defenseman Jamie Drysdale, who is currently a restricted free agent.
