When watching a baseball game, there’s always a chance of witnessing something unprecedented. In Game 3 of the NLDS between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks, that’s exactly what happened. The Diamondbacks achieved a first in playoff history by hitting four home runs in a single inning. The unfortunate recipient of these home runs was Dodgers pitcher Lance Lynn, who had allowed the most home runs in the regular season. This extraordinary batting display by the Diamondbacks resulted in Lynn being replaced in the game during the third inning, ultimately leading to a 4-2 victory for the Diamondbacks and the end of the Dodgers’ season.
The inning started with a home run from Geraldo Perdomo. Corbin Carroll then grounded out, followed by Ketel Marte’s home run. Tommy Pham grounded out next. Christian Walker added to the excitement with the inning’s third home run. The next batter, Gabriel Moreno, hit a ball that initially looked like a home run, but was ruled as foul after a review. However, Moreno was undeterred and hit a definite home run on the following pitch.
