Supporters of the Oakland Athletics are sending “Stay in Oakland” packages to Major League Baseball owners, hoping to influence their decision on the team’s potential move to Las Vegas. The packages, sent to 15 league owners and influential figures, contain various items, including a note outlining reasons for voting against the A’s relocation, a DVD from “The Summer of Sell” group, a USB flash drive, and a personal letter from Oakland mayor Sheng Thao. The main aim of the packages is to demonstrate the strong fan support in Oakland and to address concerns regarding the team’s potential move to Las Vegas, following a tentative stadium agreement. Paul Bailey, from Last Dive Bar clothing company, emphasized that the project aims to show owners the true level of fan support for the team.

As MLB owners prepare for the upcoming vote on the Athletics’ relocation at their annual meetings, Oakland fans are actively working to prevent the team from moving. Recently, the Oakland City Council unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming its support for the A’s to remain in the city, with approximately 200 people showing up to express their support by chanting “Stay in Oakland!”

If the Athletics were to move to Las Vegas, it would be another setback for Oakland, which previously lost the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas after the 2019 NFL season.
