The Houston Rockets are reportedly seeking to trade Kevin Porter Jr. after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. The team is willing to include draft compensation and multiple second-round picks to facilitate the trade, according to The Athletic’s report by Shams Charania. In return, the Rockets are looking for a player who can make an immediate impact.
Porter, a 23-year-old guard, had his best season yet with the Rockets, averaging career highs in points (19.2) and rebounds (5.3) as the team’s starting point guard. However, he has a history of negative incidents while in the NBA. During his rookie season, Porter was suspended for making improper contact with a game official. In his second season, he was suspended again for an offseason weapons charge and was eventually traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers due to an outburst related to a locker change. In Houston, Porter was suspended once for leaving the arena during a game following an argument with his teammate, Christian Wood.

Porter signed a four-year, $82 million extension with the Rockets last October, but only $15.86 million is guaranteed in the first year of the agreement. It remains to be seen if Houston will be successful in trading the USC product.
